Tag You're It!

I've been tagged!  In an online game of tag, it's now my turn to answer 11 random questions presented by Jean from Flower Hill.  Sounds like fun.  Why not?  I figured it was a good way for my readers to get to know me a little better.

Here are the rules...
You must post the rules
Answer the 11 questions that the tagger posted for you; then create 11 questions to ask the people you've tagged
Tag 11 people and link them in your post
Let them know you have tagged them

And now the answers to my questions.  You just may find out information you never wanted to know  :)

1.  What's your favorite non-blog related activity?
Decorating.  That was too easy, so if not decorating, then going to the beach. In the summer, we buy an over-sand pass for our four-wheel drive. It's so much fun -- if you've never driven on the beach, I hope you get to some day.  We drive way out and make a big campfire. the kids collect sticks and we do a cookout and s'mores with a group of friends. I did it as a child, and it is one of my favorite childhood memories that I'm so glad I can replicate for my children.  Here is the beach we go to during Fourth of July weekend:

2.  What's your favorite vacation spot?
I have to say the timeshare that my parents have on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.  I've been going there since I was about 10, and it feels like a second home.  My husband and I even got engaged there.  Here is where we stay:

3.  Who is your celebrity crush?
Oh, waaaaay too easy ;)   Ian Somerhalder. Need I say more?

Via

5.  What's your biggest pet peeve?
People putting too much personal information on Facebook.  You know what I mean.....

6.  If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you'd do?
Pay off my mortgage and put enough away for our kids schooling.  Then take a vacation with my husband -- two weeks (at least) in Europe.  I know that's three things...I guess first would be education.

7.  Signature cocktail?
There is a blue drink at a local martini bar that I am wild about...it's called the "Bond Girl" and is made with Midori, Blue Curacao, and Vodka. Yum. I can only have one, because I can barely remember the times I've had two, and I'm no lightweight, but these babies are pure alcohol!

8.  If I looked in your fridge right now, what would I find?
Oh, funny question (and embarrassing answer).  Milk, 4 dozen eggs (no, I have no idea why), bread, taco sauce, beer, butter, and yogurt.  Enough to give the kids a good breakfast, but absolutely nothing to cook with!

9.  Are you a morning or a night person?
NIGHT!  I routinely stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning.  It's just when I like to be awake, nothing more complicated than that.  It does tend to hurt the next day, though.

10.  What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?
Starting my own business and now blog.  It was very scary to do that.  I was "retired" from practicing law already, so it wasn't like we were relying on my income any more, but the thought of trying and failing was terrifying, and delayed me by years.  I have a friend now in her 20's who is going through the same struggle, and I hope with all my heart that I can convince her not to wait. She's really talented, but just doesn't have the confidence (you know who you are TN)!

11.  Reveal one thing your readers don't know about you.
My mother was just diagnosed with Alzheimer's. My grandmother had it, too.  I'm terrified of getting it myself.  That's all I can say right now, because it's a very emotional time for my family and I wanted this post to be funny and not sad!

And now for your questions...

  1. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
  2. What is your least favorite quote?
  3. What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
  4. What one thing have you not done that you really want to do?
  5. Has your greatest fear ever come true?
  6. Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?
  7. What would be the hardest thing for you to give up?
  8. What's your worst/best memory of high school and why?
  9.  What is the most rewarding experience you have had and what made it so?
  10.  If you had the chance to go back in time for 24 hours, where and when would you go?
  11.  If you could have only 3 electrical appliances in your house, what would they be and why?

Nice getting to know more about you and funny about all the eggs in your frig. I don't get the egg thing either since we have two dozen in ours and we rarely eat eggs. I'm very sorry about your Mom and hope for the best foor your family. Keep thinking about the Europe trip instead of what you might not get.

Enjoy your day!

We all enjoy learning about our blogger friends and we really don't know as much as we think we do. Women are exceptional at wearing more than one hat and we live in a world that pours is on at times. I enjoyed learning more about you and we do have our tender subjects as well and sharing that is part of who you are too. Looking forward to the answers to these questions from the lucky list of bloggers above.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I will always remember your mom as being one of the tannest ladies at CBA and didn't she used to drive a red convertible mercedes? Best wishes for your and your family.

So nice to learn more about you, Stacy! Just the colour alone makes that drink a 'must have' ;-) And I appreciate your position with FB... oversharing is #notcool! I grew up camping on the beach, and in those days the rules were a lot more relaxed about driving on the beach - our family had an old pick-up truck, and friends had 'dune buggies', aka 'beach buggies'. They are so much fun, and to this day such great memories!

You seem to be a very nice, sweet, fun mother and wife...friend too I'm sure. I loved reading more about you. Sometimes I get "blogging is too personal" but that's what's fun about it!

Eat lots of spinach and almonds...good for the brain! And beets!

In fact: Brain Lunch
Tuna, tomato, spinach, almonds and a banana for dessert :-)

I especially enjoyed your post today because it humanizes our collective experiences from eggs to cocktails to Alzheimers. Due to a brain injury a couple of years ago, early Dementia is a real possibility for me... The gift in all of this has been that I am much more present...in my home and with my family. It is all wrapped up with deep gratitude for the life that I live right now. Stay the course, and know that there are so many out there supporting you as well as congratulating you...all part of life, right:)?
